Great product, installation guide not so much
We purchased both the Ove Sydney 48" shower enclosure and the companion 32" Sydney Side Panel for our master bathroom. The quality and craftsmanship of these two items is very good, we are very happy with our choice. The installation guide however leaves a bit to be desired. Overall the installation instructions are accurate but require a few readings to fully understand what is being communicated. Having completed the installation it all makes sense now but that level of understanding would have been nice to have prior to installation, particularly since the glass is quite heavy. Also, the suggestion that the glass door be placed inside the shower before the fixed panel is installed should be placed before the fixed panel installation instruction, not after. Yes, the warning is prominently boxed in the center of the page and yes I did read through the instructions completely before starting but forgot. It wasn't difficult to tilt the door and carefully move it to the inside but it could have been avoided with the suggestion/warning being placed prior to this step of the instructions (I wasn't going to remove the door support bar and fixed panel again). It would also be helpful to have a template for the drilling of the mounting holes along with slotted screw holes in the fixed panel molding to allow for fine tuning the installation. The side panel mounts as well as the support bar have slotted screw holes which are very much appreciated. We did drill the holes in our porcelain surround in the proper positions but we had to be very careful, make several measurements to confirm and most importantly the instructions tell you to place the glass panels in position to get the correct placement of all three of them together. Since the three glass panels are all attached to each other even a slight discrepancy in this step would have resulted in a poor, less than water tight fit. Thankfully our installation is absolutely water tight, no gaps and looks great.
One other observation/suggestion. The instructions indicate that the door can be installed in the left or right position but it doesn't specifically mention that the fixed panel must be attached to the wall which makes a significant difference. Again, all worked out well for us even though our shower head is on the opposite side of the recommended installation.
Very pleased with the quality the products and our decision to purchase them. Just suggest that the instructions be updated and possibly written by an industrial trades teacher for instance. Also suggest that some consideration be given to providing hole drilling templates so that the mounts could be put up without trying to balance three heavy pieces basically at the same time to insure a proper fit.
